Alaska Aces PRE-GAME against Ginebra

Whenever Alaska is set to battle Barangay Ginebra the fans are ecstatic about it. You'll know that it will be a hell of a game. Alaska seems to have Ginebra's number especially last year when Alaska swept them in the finals in an import laden conference. For sure Ginebra is very eager to win against Alaska, add the fact that they were on a losing skid and battling for a better positioning in the playoffs. It's a must win also for Alaska to stay on top and secure the automatic semis.

So here's my take on what Alaska should do to beat Ginebra.

  • The Beast Effect -Calvin loves to play against Ginebra. He always play well against the Ginebra crowd. Every time he hears the BOOING of the fans his adrenaline and eagerness to play better just went higher. Alaska needs him to play his A game. His undying energy is contagious also. His teammates benefit from it. They tend to play more energy in defense whenever Calvin is on the floor. Another 20-20 game from him maybe. lol

  •  Pressure Defense -DEFENSE has been very vital to Alaska this season. With the addition of young and energetic rookies,Banchero and Rome, and the little beast Ping Exciminiano, Alex Compton got the luxury to inject fullcourt-press defense. It's been the key in their 8 wins. They have to keep doing it especially now that LA is struggling, shooting just 25% from the field and averaging 3TOs per game. Their offense starts with defense so they have to be consistent on it.

  • Minimize The Twin Towers -Greg Slaughter(15.4PPG 12.5RPG) and Japeth Aguilar(14.1PPG 9.9RPG) will be the biggest headache Alaska could have against Ginebra. Now that Sonny Thoss is past his prime and had been a non factor this season it'll be more difficult for Alaska. I really hope Thoss, Manuel, Menk, and Eman can contain the Twin Towers of Ginebra. They can play 2-3 zone defense to lessen their effectiveness. Unless Yeo will have a BagYeo of his own beyond the arc....That's trouble for Alaska.

  • Cebuano Hotshots -Dondon been playing brilliant this season contrary to Cyrus Baguio who's been playing awful basketball. Cyrus is shooting just 28.7% from the field and he is 2nd in most Field Goal Attempt in the team! Not the efficient Cyrus I've know for so long. I must say Dondon should get the starting SG position. You have to give the man credit. If Cyrus is still struggling Dondon should step up. His outside bombs(last game he has 5) will be a key to beat Ginebra.

P.S: Captain TDLC should start. He is the team's lucky charm. lol! The reason why Alaska lose to Barako Bull is because TDLC didn't start. HAHAHA
