Alaska just lost to Rain or Shine. Which could have given Alaska an automatic semis slot if they win. With this lost ROS shutdown the chances of Alaska.
Ouch! That was a heartbreaker! Too much heartbreaker with ROS lately. They were the one who eliminated Alaska last conference, how can we forget that JVee slipped.
Alaska held the lead almost the whole game, not until that putback of the rookie,Jericho Cruz,that puts ROS ahead by one. *smh*
What went wrong:
- Turnovers -Alaska had 19 turnovers(Calvin 7TOs). That's too much for a game. Rain or Shine capitalized on it and scored 21 points from it. It also gave Rain or Shine a critical 20 EFFIN' fastbreak points! Those TOs were critical!
- Lethal Lee -He tallied 18pts 8rebs 5asts. Alaska can't stop Paul Lee whenever he drove hard to the basket. He drew 7 fouls and had a party in the charity stripe, 11/12 FTs. And of course the cold blooded trey that tied the game! *smh*
- BOO Belga -With Sonny not fully recovered from his injury in the mid season(or his game just went downhill), Belga unleashed 16pts 12rebs. He made a couple of critical baskets,against Menk's defense,late in the 4th quarter when ROS was rallying.
- No Cyrus in 2nd Half -Cyrus had a strong start. Leading Alaska with 10pts after the 1st half. Then the 2nd half came.....He shot brick after brick after brick. The USUAL. *smh* Scoring only 2pts,both in charity stripe,in the 2nd half. The Cyrus Slump is still now showing. Alaska needs more firepower in offense! We know Cyrus can fill that hole in the offense. Wake up Cy!!!
Extra Factor Why They Lost:
- Jericho Cruz killed it! He had 16 points. He detonated his last 4 points to seal the win for Rain or Shine. Tough rookie!
Good Signs:
- Eric Menk tallied 16pts 9rebs off the bench. If Thoss continues to struggle, Alaska needs more of this from him.
*Gabby Espinas(injured) could be a big help in the paint.
