That's it! We got SWEPT in the Finals. Ouch! *insert crying emoticon* Bago mag start ang Game 4 nagdasal ako kahit isang panalo lang against SMB. But damn it! walang patawad SMB. HAHA! They were so dominant all series long. I don't even see a flaw on them,specially in their offense. Goodness gracious! How can you defend the team who have Junemar(the back to back MVP) in the middle and surrounded by 4 shooters. Plus AZ Reid was playing like a man-on-a-mission, nobody in Alaska can contain him 1-on-1 not even Romeo Travis.
Speaking of Romeo Travis. I'm really really disappointed the way he played in the Finals. He wasn't playing aggressive at all. Puro jumpshots lang tinitira, kung noon ok na tayo pajumpshot jumpshot lang siya, ngayon kasing Finals puro bricks eh. Sa limang tira swerte na kung makaisa. From Midrange Murderer to Choker real quick. lol And I don't want to mention that Lebron is his buddy. hihihi! My point is, if your outside shots aren't clicking you have to be aggressive. You gotta take it hard, man! AZ Reid was totally outplayed him in all aspects. Reid was hungrier and was consistent. To think that before the Finals started I considered Travis to be Alaska's resident import.... lol I know very foolish of me. hahaha! My expectation was high after Travis. *smh You were a BIG disappointment.
In game 1 Alaska was only down by 10 at the end of the 3rd quarter but SMB took over in the 4th and murdered Alaska with a whopping 30 point-lead. In game 2 Alaska was up by 9 points in the 4th quarter but SMB made a big run and took the win again. In game 3 and 4 Alaska had their chances but SMB again and again took the momentum and pull away in the 4th quarter. Any conclusion?? SMB is just too strong,too deep,too good. lol. Yes may mga questionable decisions na ginawa si Coach Alex Compton specially in those crucial moments in the 4th quarter but still the credits goes to him for taking Alaska in the Finals TWICE in this season. He don't know the recipe yet to win a championship. But I know'll he will get there soon. Kung masusunod yung 3 years pattern, magchachampion tayo next season. 2013 was the last championship so in 2016 we will be a champion! Yes book it! hahaha! Yes he was outcoach by Leo Austria but just think about the positive things Compton brought to Alaska. Been in the semis a couple of times and twice in the Finals. He also injected a full-court pressure defense in the team and it surprised the other teams,specially in the All-Filipino Conference. He made the new identity of Alaska, the comeback team. The saying,"No lead is safe to Alaska", well okay not in the recent Finals. lol But if you look the whole picture, Alaska had a great season with Compton in the driver seat. So not bad. Good job Alex Compton. Keep improving 'til we get the 15th championship!!
There's no shame in losing to SMB. They are a strong team. Full in all positions plus a dominant import in AZ Reid and they are the winningest team in the PBA. Alaska gave their all. Though it would help a lot if Travis and JVee had a great series. Before the Finals started I thought Travis and JVee will be the keys to win the 'chip. but unfortunately they played horrible in the series. Pero mas mahirap mag move on sa talo natin sa SMB noong All-Filipino Conference Finals, we had the championship in our hands but it slipped away because of the damn three pointer of Arwind!!!!! Just by remembering that naiiyak ako. *sniff *sniff.
Okay on the positive note, Coach Alex Compton puts Calvin in the starting lineup in game 4. Alex Compton gave him playing time and of course The Beast delivered. Calvin gave Alaska a 12-point lead at the half but when he got foul trouble in the 3rd quarter,SMB made a huge run and took the lead. He logged in 33 mins and had a double double game(22pts 17rebs). #WeNotMe mantra is doing great and all for the team but you have to have a main man. That's should be your best player in the team. In Calvin you have plus and minus but he can be one of the best. If only Calvin will play all focus in basketball(less antics) he will help the team a lot. Sana nga may imamatured pa siya. When that time comes....*wooooh* he will give Alaska more championship/s.
