Meralco Thunder Shocked the Alaska

Two words: Forgettable game!

Alaska started the game strong building up to a 10-point lead but late in the 1st quarter they loss their aggressiveness and started to turn the ball over. Abueva immediately got 3 fouls only in the 1st quarter! Yes you read it right. Napag initan na naman ng mga refs. lol

In the 2nd quarter we lost our lead...Major reason was because of TURNOVERS and they were not securing the rebounds. Our defense was also not on, Meralco were aggressively driving the lane and getting all the calls. Imagine they gave 41 freethrow attempts to Meralco and they only got 23. Whistle-happy ang mga referees. lol

It was all West in the 3rd quarter. He outscored Alaska in that quarter alone. Meralco building their lead heading to the 4th. West was driving the lane like crazy, sino ba naman ang hindi kung kada drive mo pumipito ang refs. lol. But no excuses Meralco really played aggressive basketball specially their import (West). They maximized the turnovers of Alaska by their good transition offense.

McKines after a decent first quarter, he disappeared....really.. I don't see his aggressiveness, intensity, hustle in the game. He almost engaged into a fight. I think that is one he have to improve on, he's emotion. He gotta focus in the game and help the team to get the "W". One of his weakness also is his defense. He's no Rob Dozier type of import in defense but they can do it as a TEAM. Alaska was number 1 in defense last conference I think. I will take this as one of his off nights. Hopefully!  *crossfingers*

As for the TEAM they have lots to work on:

1. Turnovers...Right from the first game, eto na problema nila. Normally wala tayong problema diyan sa department na yan specially last conference. I hope they should at least lessen their TOs. Every possession is important in this short conference format.

2. Their shooting....guys like RJ Jazul ,Dondon are not hitting their shots. They need their outside shots to click so they will be hard to defend.

3. Don't  use Abueva as POINT FORWARD... IMO Abueva is at his best in 3 or 4 position. Yes he is undersized in that position but he has proven that he can still dominate the game. Proof?? He's leading the Statistical Points. haha

4. Move the ball around and stop those one-on-one plays. If they move the ball efficiently then they will lessen their turnovers.

Best of luck my beloved TEAM!
